What are your goals? How can massage help?

For me, I know sometimes goals can be very specific, and other times goals are more general. I don’t think one is more real or more important than the other. For example, I have what I call “everyday goals.” These goals might look something like this: I want to get up each day and be able to do whatever stuff I need to (gardening, driving, massaging, etc.) with my arms, my hands, my legs, my body without discomfort. (You know, all the things we do that we take for granted until, for some reason, we can't do them.) Whereas a specific, measurable goal is that I want to be in good enough physical shape to climb a really difficult mountain and hike across a challenging ridge (see the photo below!) to the highest peak this summer. Massage can be a regular part of my self-care regimen that helps me achieve both of these goals.

What are some of YOUR goals? I'd love to hear about them!

Some of the many things that massage therapy can do for people are stimulate local circulation, optimize range of motion, reduce muscle tension and pain, increase "happy" neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine while reducing cortisol, lower stress, promote relaxation and help you have a more restful sleep. These are all things that can help you feel better, physically and mentally - thus enabling you to more easily work towards your goals.
